-
Ensure the surface is completely clean, grease
and wax free by thoroughly cleaning firstly with hot soapy water
followed by methylated spirits.
-
Mark the required position for text (chinograph
pencil is easily removed from most surfaces)
-
Add one or two drops of washing up liquid into
water in a spray bottle and mist the application surface with
this mix.
-
Carefully peel away the backing paper from
the lettering/logo strip exposing the adhesive and mist with
water then apply. The film of water will allow re-positioning.
-
When correctly positioned, squeegee down firmly
removing any air and water from behind the lettering/logo.
-
After a short time (to allow the water to drain)
gradually peel away the premask paper leaving the lettering/logo
on the surface you have applied it to. (Especially in cold temperatures
it may be better to leave this operation for up to 30 minutes
to facilitate easier removal.)
-
To ensure perfect adhesion and removal of any
remaining water or air it is sometimes necessary to gently warm
the lettering/logo with a hot air gun or hair dryer.
(Be sure not to heat up the vinyl too much as to damage it.)
-
Allow a minimum of 24 hours for the adhesive
to cure, to ensure a full bond has developed (particularly important
for marine applications.)
